Since 1977, Star Wars has influenced pop culture and developed a cult following. Every generation since the late 70’s knows Star Wars. The 1977 release of A New Hope melted viewers minds with groundbreaking visual effects at the time. Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of The Jedi (1983) are part of the original series. Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamil) on a mission to take down the Sith to bring peace, prosperity and balance back to the galaxy.
The prequel series Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), tells the story of Anakin Skywalker’s upbringing, how he becomes a Jedi, and his transformation to Darth Vader.
The Force Awakens (2015) introduces Rey (Daisy Ridley) as she discovers the force and her Jedi capabilities. She is helped by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) who is now General Leia and commander of the resistance. Rey must stop The First Order led by Supreme Leader Snoke, and his apprentice Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia. Ren is the former apprentice of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil) who is in hiding.
The final scene of The Force Awakens Rey finds Luke Skywalker. He has a dark look in his eye as she reaches out to give him his old light saber.
During the conclusion of Return of the Jedi Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) says to Luke “Luke help me take this mask off” Luke replies “but you’ll die” Vader replies “nothing can stop that now, just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes.” Luke then proceeds to take off Darth Vader’s Mask. Vader’s final words to Luke are “you were right about me, tell your sister, you were right.” Luke taking off Vader’s mask kills Vader, which technically is not the Jedi way.
In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywaiker kills Count Dooku from orders by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (Darth Sideous). Anakin later became his apprentice Darth Vader. In the Empire Strikes Back, during Vader and Skywalker’s first encounter, before revealing to Luke in the famous scene that he is his father, Vader is trying to persuade Luke to join him while fighting. In Return of the Jedi, while Darth Sideous (Emperor Palpatine) is electrocuting Luke, Vader kills Palpatine, making him the new Sith Leader. Was Luke right about Vader? Did Luke secretly take over where his father left off? Is there a Last Jedi?
The saga continues December 15th.
