Stronger is a true story based on the memoirs of the same title. Follow Jeff Bauman (Jake Gyllenhaal, “Nightcrawler”) and everyday Boston man, a relatable joe. Someone who is living everyday life next to his partner Erin Hurley (Tatiana Maslany, “Orphan Black”) Man just trying to be on time. Jeff Bauman shows up for Erin’s run in the marathon in Boston when the infamous bombing of 2013 happens. Taking Jeff’s legs and a part of who his is. Stronger aims to capture on film a man who lived life normally than in a blink of an eye a tragedy changed everything, and if he is strong enough to overcome what happened to him, while being a beacon of hope to his city of Boston.
Stronger is directed by David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express”) with Jake Gyllenhaal producing it with his production company Nine Stories Productions. Following an event that only happened 4 years ago, that still fresh to the city and its people. Working off the memories of Jeff Bauman that Jake Gyllenhaal plays, this movie seems to be less about the event itself and more about hope and how even in tragedy there is light. See it in a theater near you September 22nd.
