Get ready to return to the world of Norse mythology and Asgard, with it’s premier champion the thunder god himself Thor when “Thor: Ragnarok” rolls into theaters on November 3. Cleverly set up in the end credit scene of “Doctor Strange” Thor’s new adventure picks up several years after “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the mighty thunder god has not been having the best of times. Cast out of Asgard by the invading Goddess of Death Hela (Cate Blanchett, “Lord of the Rings Trilogy“, “How to Train Your Dragon 2“) Thor (Chris Hemsworth, “Star Trek: Into Darkness“, “Ghostbusters“) finds himself imprisoned on a alien planet after having lost his beloved hammer, Mjolnir. Brought before the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum, “Isle of Dogs“, “Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2“) by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson, “Westworld“, “Selma“), Thor is thrust into a gladiatorial battle against someone he knows very well, his co-worker on the Avengers, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, “Now You See Me 2“, “Iron Man 3“). Thor in desperate need to return to Asgard to stop the conquering Hela and prevent the worst fate known to any Asgardian, Ragnarok (the Norse equivalent of the end of days), valiantly fights for his life and those of his fellow Asgardians even when he must fight against a friend. Once the battle is done Thor finds freedom and realizes he must form a team to assist him in his quest to save his planet and his people. Thor along with his compatriot from the Avengers, the Hulk and the woman who captured him, Valkyrie together make their way back to Asgard. Oh yeah and by the way,Loki (Tom Hiddleston, “Kong: Skull Island“, “Crimson Peak” ) ,Thor’s often times bitter enemy and wayward brother, who was also being held on this planet joins the unique team as well.Waiting for them back home is the battle to end all battles but will this unlikely band of heroes be able to defeat the hellish army headed by the Death Goddess herself? Or will Asgard fall?
The mighty juggernaut that is Marvel studios and it’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) looks to be about to unleash yet another box office crushing installment with “Thor: Ragnarok“. The trailer is as always masterfully put together and if the movie can live up to the action packed, well timed comedic pace of this trailer then we will all leave the theaters very happy. “Thor: Ragnarok“, like every other piece of the MCU is full of fantastic visual effects, pithy banter and a never ending supple of kick butt fight scenes at least that is what it looks like. So if your a comic nerd like me or just a fan of some awesome action then take that rainbow bridge to Asgard and see who comes out the winner of “Thor: Ragnarok“.
